On October 18 at 10:18 a.m., millions of people worldwide will practice how to “Drop, Cover and Hold On” during Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills. British Columbians can join by for the 2018 Great British Columbia ShakeOut.
Well, they DIDN'T, and that is NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
In British Columbia 919,155 participated out of a population of 4,817,160 (2017) = 19% of the population. None have brought any qualitative analysis to that low participation. For instance, 3 years ago I attended at the North Vancouver City Square to observe four female City employees standing around talking outside City Hall, paying absolutely no attention to the Shakeout Drill. The cynical part of me thought 'they just don't want to duck under their desks and get their skirts dirty'. Everybody all around the square JUST went about their own business as if NOTHING was happening. In the North Vancouver City Library, the staff told me that they did participate, but in later years they just continued working at their desks as if NOTHING was happening. Later, while I continued making more DOCUMENTARY VIDEOS, CNVL staff were actually instructed to stay at their desks.
WE ALL KNOW THE BIG ONE IS COMING, DON'T WE ? ANY TIME, ANY MINUTE. I could not believe that level of immaturity. In a BIG ONE, those books in 'stacks' will become bullets
The next year I attended the West Vancouver Memorial Library. DITTO. NO DUCK, COVER AND HOLD. And, those people are all surrounded by glass.
No one is taking this seriously and a lot of our grandchildren will die.
Nancy Yamamoto, the elected MLA for North Vancouver represented the NV City in the provincial government in Victoria, was appointed Minister of Emergency Planning and Preparedness in the BC Provincial government. She came up with the idea of preparing for a Zombie Apocalypse, totally demoralized her entire Ministry in process, with wicked staff turnover.
In the next election, I LIVED IN HER RIDING and was fortunate enough to help fire that child. I put my 'X' beside the name of another candidate.
My assessment, we suffer a total lack of Xcommitment, Xleadership Xmaturity, Xseriousness and Xsomberness. In the US FEMA has designated Cascadia 'Zone X' (10) and have been stockpiling body bags.
